Where is Wasilla?
Wasilla is in South-Central Alaska, located between in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. We are located less than one hour from Anchorage, AK.

I don’t quilt or scrapbook. What else is there?
Our country inn welcomes all artists & crafters. If you like to knit, stamp, make cards, paint, or if you’re looking for a place for a personal growth or spiritual retreat, Lake Lucille can accommodate you and your group.

Can I reserve Lake Lucille for something other than quilting or scrapbooking?
YES! Lake Lucille was designed with you in mind and we are happy to accommodate other groups or events.

Does each person get their own room?
No, unless your group is of 3 or less.

What are the bed sizes?
Bedroom 2 and 3 have Twin XL beds. Bedroom 1 has a bunk bed with a Twin bed on top and Double on the bottom. There is also a queen-size airbed available for use.

Is food provided at the retreat?
No, food is not provided. However, the retreat has a well-equipped kitchen with all the necessary utensils, dishes, baking dishes pots and pans, and several small appliances that include a KitchenAid mixer, crockpot, air fryer, etc. Basic seasonings are provided as well. There is also an electric kettle and coffee maker that takes regular ground coffee in a carafe. We provide coffee and an assortment of Teas. The kitchen also has a full-sized refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, and gas grill (outside). Most groups coordinate meal planning ahead of time so that each person is responsible for a meal or two. We think you will appreciate everything our kitchen has to offer and that it allows your group to easily prepare whatever level of cuisine you desire.

Can I buy my groceries once I get there?
Yes, you are minutes from a Walmart, Fred Meyer, Carrs, and fast food.

What do I need to bring?
Bring yourself and your projects—PJs, toiletries, and comfortable clothing are a must! We provide a fully-equipped kitchen for your use. Bring food to prepare, snacks and beverages or visit our local grocer or restaurants. We can arrange for a caterer to prepare your meals, too.

What do you recommend to pack?
Well, other than the obvious (clothes, crafting supplies and tools, food) we recommend packing warm clothes (even in the summer season for the evening), slippers, bug spray for the summer months.

Can I bring Rover? Smoke? Vape?
Lake Lucille is pet free, smoke free, and vape free.

Do you have a blender?
We have most anything you need in the kitchen, such as:
China for 12, including tea cups and gravy bowl (white with silver rim),
Coffee Pots, Coffee Filters, Wine Glasses (12), Margarita Glasses (6), Cake Pans, Strainers, Measuring Cups, Dixie Cups, Paper Towels, Hot Pads, Knives, Hand Mixer, Mixing Bowls, Casserole Pans, Electric Fry Pan, Electric Griddle, Omelet Pans, Cookie Sheets (4), Crockpots, Panini Machine, Blender, Pots, Salt & Pepper, Various Seasonings, Oils, Rolling Pins, etc. The Sewing Center also has dishes, silverware and cooking equipment.

Do you provide WiFi service at the retreat?
We do provide free WiFi and you can use it to make calls over the WiFi. Most smartphones have a feature called WiFi calling, and it allows you to make calls as you normally would in town, but over WiFi. Please contact your carrier to ensure this feature is enabled on your device. If you need help connecting to WiFi, just ask the owners at the retreat.  The TV in the retreat has Netflix, and YouTubeTV. We recommend you stream from this TV instead of on your personal devices.

Does the power go out often?
Not really, but it does happen. In the event this happens, we will do our best to keep you comfortable. In the colder months there are space heaters, a natural gas fireplace. Several rooms have a electric fireplace within the rooms. You can still cook with the gas stove. We also have some battery powered lights available, and some puzzles.

Does everyone in my group have to sew/quilt/craft?
No. Please feel free to bring along your non-crafty friends and family. There is a lot to do up on the mountain to keep everyone entertained and having a good time.

What does the retreat fee include? 
The retreat fee covers your time in the sewing room from Friday at noon until Sunday at 3:00. It also helps cover the cost of other retreat supplies needed. Some special events may be included and will be noted in the retreat description.

How long does the retreat last? The retreat begins at noon on Friday and goes until Sunday 3:00 pm. Not everyone stays late on Sunday but many of us do. There are several fast food restaurants open in area and someone is always willing to make the drive for take-out.

How is the sewing room set up? There are no assigned seats. The room is set up so each person will have a 6 foot table, a power strip to plug in your machine, light, etc. and a small waste basket. There are cutting stations with rotary cutters and rulers and ironing stations with full size irons for you to use. Small travel irons next to your machine are okay but full size irons are not permitted. Please bring any special rulers or tools you might need for your own project.

There is a snack table in case you get hungry and everyone is welcome to bring something to share. Paper plates, napkins, cups, etc. are provided. Bottled water, coffee and tea is available.
There is also a sale table if you have any quilt related items you’d like to bring. Please mark your items with your name and the price to buyers can find you.

Do you have Air Conditioning?
    Yes! Currently we have portable air conditioners located throughout the retreat house should you feel the need to use them. Typically, they are only needed during the day during July and August. Also, each room has a ceiling fan. It is usually quite chilly at night so we recommend openning the windows and letting in the fresh mountain air!

What do you use for heat?
    The house has a forced air, natural gas fireplace. We also have a individual electric heaters in the bedrooms.

Is there a cleaning service?
We provide all bed linens and plenty of towels and wash cloths. The house will be clean when you arrive. Enjoy your stay!

What about parking?
Lake Lucille is located in a residential area. You may park anywhere on the property. There are entry doors to the work area and a separate entrance to the downstairs sleeping quarters and kitchen.
